Hunting Heathcliff on the Moor

I think I started off feeling a bit low today.  A bit in the dumps.  No real reason; just a bit… blah.  A pint of Dark Knight from the Moor Beer Co. didn’t make me feel any better.  Didn’t make me feel any worse either.  Just still a bit… blah.

Dark Knight is a dark wheat beer, ABV 5.1%.

The appearance reminded me of the colour of my bathwater after a particularly muddy walk in County Mayo.  Without the distinctive peaty smell.  The flavour was perfectly pleasant, very easily drinkable, but perhaps not very wheaty.  A case of more dunkel and less weisse.

I think that I had been hoping for something a bit more… earthy.  I felt a bit like I had asked for Wuthering Heights and been presented with Kate Bush rather than Emily Brontë.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I love both Kate Bush and Emily Brontë, it was just that in my current state of mind, I was more in the mood for the gritty one with the incipient TB.

Moor’s Dark Knight was dark and brooding, but it was no Heathcliff.
