I’ll start with both a warning and an apology.  There are no cute photographs of dogs tied up outside polling stations in this blog piece.

Having now lost 99.9% of my readership, I’ll continue with my brief observation.

There appears to be a direct correlation between the paucity of the electoral candidates and the number of ‘dogs at polling stations’ hashtags.

Evidence, for me, of a fundamentally optimistic human instinct: we will seek the positive wherever we can find it.
