First, it was OpenAI, then it was Anthropic, now it is Meta.
The competition is on to prove who has the most rogue AI on the block. Each tech giant has announced that their AI models have managed to hack other organisations contrary to predictions.
It seems that it is no longer good enough to develop an AI, which will spread light and happiness throughout the world, now the Big Tech companies appear to be all competing against each other to show their AI systems are the best at running amok given half a chance.
It is like a meeting of drug dealers each one claiming that their own American XL Bully will inflict the most damage if it is let off the leash.
And, extending this useful analogy a stage further, the UK very sensibly placed a ban on XL Bullys in 2024 because it decided that they posed too great a danger to the public.
I think that we are at a stage of needing to implement a similar sort of ban on AI.
