Puffins like buses? I wait years to try and see one, and then hundreds all come along together. Admittedly, it would have been more of a surprise if I hadn’t seen a puffin, since I was on the island of Heimaey, which is home to one of the biggest Puffin colonies in the world.
And, in order to further increase my chances, once I was on Heimaey, I hiked down to the very south of the island to a spot known as Puffin Lookout. I mean, I simply couldn’t fail.
And, there they were. In their burrows; all around in the air; floating on the sea below. Some were flapping their wings; some had recently-caught sandeels hanging from their mouths; all were adorable.
Puffins: a picture is worth a thousand words.
